Kitchen Tour

Because I spent so much time in the house this past weekend I started taking pictures of things around my house. Yes, I was having cabin fever.

I thought I would give you a tour of some things in my kitchen. Yesterday, I talked about those little lights that my husband installed under our cabinets.

I like to pretend that I am cooking in a gourmet kitchen with those little lights that make everything sparkle so nicely. It is the little things in life! Right?

Here are some of my personal touches in our kitchen:

Hand painted plates (not by me) under those wonderful lights...

Clean dishes forks and measuring spoons in the sink...

Hand painted plate from Italy above the stove...

I hope you enjoyed!

I am grateful for...

So many things in my life. However, this week I am grateful for having lights and power. I am grateful for my wonderful husband who installed these little lights under our cabinets in the kitchen (love, love, love cooking even more now).

I am grateful for wonderful neighbors. Especially, the ones across the street who come and help us shovel out our driveway during snow storms, a mystery neighbor who shoveled our sidewalk, and our neighbor directly next door who came running to my side yesterday.

Yesterday, while shoveling I fell down on the ice and ended up fracturing my tailbone. At the time, I knew that it was serious because I immediately started crying and I just couldn't move. My neighbor from next door came running over in the snow to be by my side, along with my husband. They helped me up and inside.

I was so grateful and will remember that kind and helpful gesture for the rest of my life. I will be writing a thank you note and giving him a gift next week!

We ended up getting 33 inches of snow in our area. They are predicting another 10 to 20 inches tomorrow. I don't know where all of this snow is going to go. I think they may need to airlift this stuff out of here (just kidding).

This is my favorite picture from the other day.

Have you been helped in a time of need by a neighbor or stranger? I think there are SO many wonderful people out there.

True Culprit For Our Outages...

Have you ever experienced this before?

The weight of the snow pulled the lines off the side of our house.

No cable or Internet for us for a while...

Instead of watching T.V. or surfing the Internet, I will be thinking about beautiful beaches like this...

I will be posting as soon as I can my blog friends! You are all so wonderful. Thanks for all of your comments and emails. It means so much to me.

Snowed In! 31 inches and counting...

This is a historic snow for Washington, DC.

We woke up to 31 inches of snow this morning and it is expected to snow for another 12 hours.

Again, I am snuggled up in my blankets and sipping on my coffee.

I love these sayings from the Starbucks cups.

If you don't hear from me for a few days it is because we lost our power, internet, cable, etc. Stay warm and safe my blog friends.

Simple Pleasures

“Simple pleasures are always the last refuge of the complex”

My simple pleasure is doing something creative and taking pictures.

What is your simple pleasure?

It's February!

I love this month because I love red roses and I got married in February! Do you remember the calendar that I purchased for 2010? If not, you can go here and check out January.

I have flipped over the page to February in my calendar and this is what I see.

My theme for February is Style. I dedicate an entire month to a theme. For instance, last month's theme was Organization. I am proud of my accomplishments for January 2010. I organized my spice rack, coffee mugs, and all of my holiday decorations (this was a major accomplishment).

Now to February for finding my Style. This is going to be a fun month (at least more fun than organizing). FYI- My entire theme for 2010 is May Your Dreams Come True.

Do you make mini projects or themes for yourself? This is something new that I have started and I am enjoying it very much.

Staying Warm

It is our third snow storm of the season. I am loving every minute of it.

I am staying warm by being snuggled up in my animal print blanket.

Enjoy your weekend my blog friends!
